1: How long have you had your bridal store and how did you become a bridal storeowner? My background is manufacturing, although I have always had a passion for fashion, my biggest passion has always been fabrics, lace, beads, and embellishments. I have always been drawn to anything with a bit sparkle. When I was approximately, seven years old, I was given a battery-operated sewing machine, and I would make clothes for my dolls, with bits of spare fabric or old curtains and I would stick sequins or even glue bits of glitter onto them to make them sparkly. So even from a very young age I have always experimented with fabrics. Therefore, that is really, where it all began. From leaving school I have always had some connection to the fashion world and have always worked in fashion. Back then, there were a lot of local manufacturers who were always recruiting and so I applied and after some training, I began working on a production line, this involved being part of the process of making anything from tailored jackets to bridal gowns. Once again my imagination and passion were ignited and, I started experimenting with my own designs making pieces just for myself, which also prompted me to start working towards making a career out of manufacturing and so over 15 years I managed to 'work my way up the ladder' so to speak gaining industry knowledge as far as the make up and finish of a garment in a professional capacity Unfortunately, redundancy came knocking and so.... Cherie's Brides began in 1999; the store was initially dedicated to making bespoke Bridal wear in addition I also offered alterations and a dressmaking service. It all began with a few design samples and I would make to order. When your gown is delivered into the store, in preparations for your first fitting we steam your gown and we also provide a wedding gown bag. We can arrange storage and always give your gown a professional steam up again before your big day.
